Tom received his B.S. in meteorology from Northern Illinois University in May of 2011. He is currently working towards his M.S. in Atmospheric Science with a focus on remote sensing; his research interest is using the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Day-Night-Band (DNB) to improve fire retrieval properties. Tom achieved second place in the Northern Illinois University Research and Artistry Day with his work on weather volatility across the Eastern U.S. while working on his undergraduate degree.

Upon graduation, he joined the HP to work for Air Force Weather Agency in Omaha as an system administrator in August 2015
